Responsible Printing When Marketing by Janice Jenkins
Printing is part and parcel of marketing. You really cannot avoid it especially that you want to make a success of your marketing campaign to help you grow your business.
But printing, whether it is brochure printing or any other print ad, takes a toll on the environment. It is a well known fact that paper comes from trees. In fact, some say that a piece of paper is equivalent to one tree. Whether it is true or not, we should be aware of how we affect our environment. Every printout we consider as useless and junk means wasting precious natural resources. It may not be that great with one piece of paper. But everything will surely add up to provide ominous consequences.
So what can we do to minimize if not totally stop our contribution to the destruction of our natural resources without having to affect our marketing requirements when we print brochures?
Print wisely. This is actually the best advice anyone can give to business owners and marketers. Printing wisely means having to print only those that are necessary. We cannot really avoid mistakes and waste when we start printing brochures. But what we can do is to minimize the things that go to waste every time we have our printer produce our marketing collaterals. For starters, we can utilize the internet for our e-brochures. We can have a paperless marketing ad or even have them burned on CDs or DVDs. But if we really want to have a print ad for our business, we need to learn to proofread thoroughly and edit everything before we run our brochure printing template to press. This way, we avoid any mistakes, thereby minimizing the need to reprint and reproduce.
Choose recycled and environment-friendly paper. Always opt for paper that is recycled and environment-friendly to send out the message that you are not only concerned about the profits but your effect to the environment as well. This sends out a great impact on how responsible you are and your company, and that your business provides benefits not only to people but to Mother Nature as well.
Choose not to use petroleum- or oil-based inks. As ink is a big part when printing brochures and other marketing collaterals, you can always choose to apply inks that are vegetable or soy-based. In fact, these inks are way better than their counterparts. These inks are brighter and cleaner and they can provide you with the same quality of printing as that of the other inks available in the market. Also, avoid inks that contain metal and other harmful elements such as copper and barium. Their effects may not be apparent right away, but the harmful results will definitely be evident after a few years.
Finally, try to avoid wastage altogether. As much as you can, proofread all documents before you even have your printer run your ads. Needless to say, you need to choose a printer that is also responsible for the environment and choose to maintain rather than deplete what we have for our natural resources. An ally that not only can help you produce the marketing tools you need but environmentally-responsible as well can make you grow into a better and responsible business.
